More Than A Sister!

Joining Chi Omega has already made such a huge impact on my life. I actually got a
glimpse into Chi Omega Theta Kappa before I ever went through recruitment because
of my older sister, Ellie Becker. Coming to Baylor and getting involved in Greek life, I
was honestly worried that I would only ever be seen as “Ellie Becker’s younger sister.”
But that couldn’t have been further from the truth.
From the very beginning, the women in Chi O pursued me for who I was—not just as
someone connected to my sister. That immediately stood out to me and made this
experience even more meaningful. Getting to share this chapter and be part of
something so much bigger than myself alongside my sister, even after her graduation,
has been incredibly special. But what I love most about Chi O is that you truly get to be
who you are. You’re not defined as someone’s daughter, sister, or friend—you are
uniquely yourself and celebrated for exactly who you were created to be.
It became clear to me very quickly that Chi Omega was where I belonged. The women
here are truly a dynamic group of people who celebrate with you, grieve with you,
pursue you intentionally, and show you what genuine friendship looks like. No matter
your MC, major, hometown, or background, you matter and you have a place in Chi O.
This community is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. It is uplifting, refining, and
deeply meaningful, and I know not everyone gets the opportunity to be part of
something this special.
My new member period especially grew me in so many ways. It pushed me outside of
my comfort zone by encouraging me to initiate hangouts with other new members, get
to know all 101 girls in my MC as well as girls in other MCs, and put myself out there at
all of the fun events. It truly was some of the most fun I’ve ever had. Being part of an
organization that challenges you while also helping you grow is something I could have
only dreamed of. Along the way, I gained wonderful new friends, learned from all the
girls around me, and got to dress silly while doing it.
I know this is a season of life I’ll look back on with so much joy forever. I genuinely
cannot believe I get three more years of this. Chi Omega, yours forever – I’m the
luckiest!
